I purchased this necklace for my son's graduation from the NYPD. I chose this because the medal is sterling silver and is 1 inch in size. The chain is stainless steel and 24 in length. It gets pulled over the head instead of having a grasp. I thought this would be practical since the grasp couldn't break.|Instead, the medal broke off the chain after one day of wearing!
