A Conversation About Moissanite and Diamonds with Stuller
Thinking about moissanite or diamonds? Learn more from Joy Jewelers' conversation with Stuller, a large distributor of fine jewelry and gemstones based in Lafayette, Louisiana. Today our conversation is with Lindsey Prewitt, gemstone product manager and "moissanite lady" at Stuller.
Stuller feels that whether the customer chooses genuine diamonds, Lab Grown diamonds, Moissanite, White Sapphire, or Cubic Zirconia we are just giving the customer another option to meet their budget and needs. Some of the best value propositions vs a diamond is the fire, brilliance, and price. One of the most distinguishable elements of a Moissanite gemstone is its "fire" or dispersion. Dispersion is a property of a gemstone caused as light radiates through the gemstone on certain wavelengths. Moissanite dispersion displays 2.4 times the fire of a diamond. This is what gives Moissanite the beauty and scintillation that is loved by so many. The most dominant feature of a gemstone is its "brilliance." When we refer to the brilliance we are also referring to the "sparkle." Moissanite has 10% more brilliance than a diamond. Lastly, Moissanite is only a fraction of the price of a diamond which makes it a great option if you want to stay in a budget or want to go big.
All Moissanite stones that come in go through our Gemstones Quality Assurance department. We are measuring the stone making sure if it says 6.5mm it is indeed that size. Next we look at the color compare to our master Moissanite set. We then loop the stones and look at the overall look of the stone checking for chips or defects, doubling reflection, checking the girdle for the correct wording and numbers. Then if everything is good we put it in stock.
All the shapes are an improvement from the Forever Brilliant because the stacking of the SiC material was able to make the material whiter than the Forever Brilliant material. Forever One stones are so pure and white they look amazing in all jewelry.
Forever One Moissanite does take longer to create than cubic zirconia. The Moissanite process takes up to 3 months to bring a Moissanite to its finished stage as a beautiful Forever One Moissanite gemstone.
Charles & Colvard Moissanite gemstone is hand-cut by master craftsmen. Forever One Moissanite is a DEF colorless to GHI near colorless gemstone grown from a tiny seed in a controlled environment that mimics nature Moissanite. While Moissanite closely resembles a natural diamond, it’s NOT a diamond, synthetic diamond, brand of diamond or diamond simulant like CZ. Truly a unique and beautiful blend of art and science, Moissanite is a dazzling gemstone; purchased by many customers as affordable fine jewelry.
